Course Description:

This is a 6-day Course and requires no specialised skill level.

Timber and canvas canoes are wonderful watercraft. They are a pleasure to build, beautiful to look at and they perform well on lakes and rivers. They are light to carry, easy to paddle and suit the casual day paddler, fly fisher or the adrenalin rush of shooting rapids.

You will be introduced to the techniques of steam bending and planking while practicing the pleasure of hand tool use.

The canoe is canvassed in the traditional manner stretching the fabric tight and filling with a special sealer.

At weeks end the canoe is ready to finish at home. Those who wish to purchase the canoe for the cost of the materials will put their names into a hat with the lucky winner drawn.

This course is also available with private tuition.
